Jagannathan named Camelback Fellow & 2018 in review
Hello Real Talk community,
First, we want to congratulate our co-founder Vichi for being named as one of this year’s 2019 Camelback Fellows! Vichi is one of 14 leaders of color in her cohort and will be reconnecting with the other fellows in June for a week of programming. Vichi, Cristina, and Liz were also just in Denver as part of the Visible Connect accelerator sponsored by Visible.
We’re grateful to have spent the past nine months working alongside some other incredible mobile tech nonprofits (e.g. Onward, JustFix.nyc, IssueVoter, FreeFrom, Sirum, TalkingPoints, CareerVillage.org, and Feeding Children Everywhere). NOTE: Do you have a mobile tech nonprofit? Applications are now open for Visible Connect’s second cohort!
Next, we want to share our Real Talk 2018 in Review infographic created by our marketing intern Claire Cole. We’re excited that the majority of our users are between the ages of 13 and 17 and that our users accessed more than 5,000 high-quality online health resources last year.
Moving forward, we will be expanding our stories and resources to explicitly collect and share content on mental health. After monitoring our search results and analyzing the content of stories across our three broad categories (puberty, relationships, and bullying), we’ve seen that our teen users are talking about and asking for content on stress, anxiety, depression and how these topics intersect with our app categories of puberty, relationships, and bullying. If you are interested in adolescent mental health and would like to offer high-quality, online health resources on mental topics for us to vet and share with our users, please email them to Liz at email@example.com.
All the best,
Liz, Vichi, and Cristina
